Local Man Claims that He Was falsely Imprisoned for Several Weeks

Editor's Note:  Despite a signed order granting bail and release from custody,  Luther Pritt was taken to jail and kept there in excess of 30 days.

On April 19,2016 Magistrate Carrie Wilfong signed and order releasing Luther, admitting him to bail and ordered his release.

Did that stop the Sheriff from taking him to jail?  Not on your life!

This is Pocahontas County where not even a magistrate's order is honored!

Luther is now homeless and walking the streets.  He gave this paper to me Friday evening and headed to the creek for a bath.

His incarceration cost the county over $1300 dollars.

You will remember that the incarceration of Ferrell Kelly cost the county $43,800 dollars.

It took 30 months to bring his case to trial and he was acquitted of that charge.

Can We Afford These Unnecessary Expenses?

Think of how many senior meals this would provide!

  2. Please take note Luther is not a good man. He should still be in jail. Luther took and duck taped his girl friend and then proceed to beat her like she was less than dirt. I sure hope one day he gets what he fully deserves. Men who beat women are worthless.

    1. No one is denying that men who beat women are worthless.
And you might be right he could very well deserve to be in jail.
But that is not the issue.
Regardless of what he has done he deserves to be treated fairly.
Also the Sheriff is no judge jury and executioner.
      That can nevervbe allowed.
Luther may be scum I can't say I don't know him but I do know if he was supposed to be released from jail he should have been released from jail.
If he did what you said to his girlfriend she should have pressed charges and he would have been arrested for kidnapping and assault.
If she did not press charges shes the fool.If she did and no onecdid anything then we are all fools for electing the wrong people.

    2. She did press charges but of course deals were made and a woman beater is free to attack again. Hell maybe next time he will kill a woman before he gets real time in jail. I will not feel sorry for this low life. Nothing will be done until he kills someone. If this was for any other offence. Yeah i would agree but maybe in this case God was at work at the very least one could hope so.

    4. Just for the record, Luther was in jail this time for harassing phone calls, not for beating his girl friend.

  4. The sherriff's department doesn't care about a woman! I know that they laughed and joked after a man beat his girlfriend, had a gun pointed at her, had a knife to her throat, he left a suicide note, he was recorded threatening her, her dog and her other pets in some sort of muster suicide plan. They left the guy standing beside a loaded shotgun on the top of the hood of th cruiser, shot the gun and laughed with the guy. Knew the guy was driving an illegal vehicle for years and just laughed it off. The lady had cuts, black eyes, and bruises all over her. Her windshield beat out, holes in her walls...you name it! The police LAUGHED and arrested HER! Oh....the suicide note which was picked up by a policeman if the sherriff's department had magically "disappeared". The mystery of if all.

    1. Please name names here. Who were the officers. Were the Deputies, and / or WV SP that responded too. We need to all keep track of and know who not to trust with the most important things, our lives and our children's lives. Date of when this happened. If anything went to court for him. What was she charged with? Who was her bonding Magistrate? Who was the prosecutor for her? Who was the Magistrate or Judge for her case? Were there any for him? Were deals made early by the Prosecuting Attorneys office before they ever even knew anything about the case or spoke to her the victim or witnesses? How exactly was his vehicle illegal? Seriously we can use this medium better and start to get somewhere in fixing all this.

As for the guy in the Original subject of this post above, it was the duty of the Prosecuting Attorneys office to make sure the Magistrates orders were followed. If they weren't then this is all also on them. Yes he has a civil case. John Bryant is an anti corruption attorney, for others will have to look far from this dirty county, to Charleston or elsewhere. The Feds need to be contacted on all of this.
