Hey, Copper, don't prejudge what Gossip has to say. It may be worthless, and it may not. Just because something is personal, if it is in fact personal, does not mean that it has no merit.
Oh, I agree with you on that. I have no doubt that Cole did something he shouldn't have. You can't deny the paperwork; but you can't fault Cole for relocating to WV to escape his past. Anyone would have done this. The people to point the finger at is the City of Richwood for hiring him, and the State of WV for not sealing up the cracks in the system. When all this was posted. My guess was this was a personal problem that someone had with Cole, because we all know anyone can get on Topix and spin off a bunch of lying bull shit. A link to any documents wasn't put up until I pissed someone off stating it was all bull shit, and then the proof was posted. Cole was exposed for what he did. Okay, that's good. However, there is no need in bashing the man anymore. This is out there, the state and public know all the facts now, it is my guess that the Mayor of Richwood will craw-fish his why out by saying he didn't know all the facts and fire Cole. The point is, I would say Cole's Law Enforcement career is coming to end now. Why fu@k with him any more?

Copper, I wouldn't have nearly as much trouble with Cole if he would simply tell the whole truth about his Kentucky problems and make a sincere apology to the public. As it is, he remains defiant and evasive.
Gossip is from the Summersville area, and he/she is quite familiar with crooked cops. Summersville is a small WV town about the size of Dogpatch but at one time had between thirty and forty police. Their main duty was writing speeding tickets to drivers on the 4-lane highway that cuts through the city limits. Two brothers on the force, according to the common wisdom of the day, had a habit of mixing personal pleasure with police business, and were given the opportunity to resign. They moved to Gauley Bridge, another small WV town with a 4-lane that cuts through the city limits, where one of them became the chief. Summersville was no longer the speed trap capital of the world, and the title passed to Gauley Bridge. After a few years the feds moved into town to investigate some kind of creative bookkeeping. The brothers resigned again and moved somewhere else.
The problem is that the people who have the duty to protect the public from bad cops don't do their job. Plastic, steel and aluminum should be recycled, not bad cops. If the city government of Richwood won't get rid of Cole, then the people must do what they can to protect themselves. Topix, okay. Going to city council meetings, okay. Newspaper articles, okay. Silence from the public could be misconstrued as acceptance.
You may be right that Cole's law enforcement career will soon be over, but you may be wrong. In the immortal words of the greatest mind of the 20th century: "It ain't over 'till it's over."

I know the area's you are talking about very well. I'm from there. Trust me when I say I know all about the past history of Nicolas County, SPD and the Le Rose issue. I also agree with you that if Cole would admit he did this, people would forgive and forget if he would do a bang up job in Richwood. I also know that Richwood has some big issues of its own. Frankly, people are sick of the crap going on about it. This is not just in Richwood WV, it goes on in anyplace USA.

The people of Richwood are bright.
They seem to do everything right.
They keep their lawns green
And their cars squeaky clean
And they bring in their stereos at night.

I was at the accident the other day in Canvas right up from J & J and a couple of the fire guys were talking about how the mayor had offered him the job even before discussing it with the council and how several other people including a retiredtrooper applied but he shitcanned all the other applications. Im sure things are going to be quite interesting at the next council meeting if he lasts that long.

Chris, we don't know what's at your door.
Richwood could boot you and more,
But I know a fellow named Bob -
He can get you a job
