Politicians and the administrators love having a big budget to spend and waste. Over the years had they spent a little every year on upgrades instead of wish lists then there would not be a big issue.
Unfortunately the upgrade costs have skyrocketed and the amount of capital on hand without assistance from a levy never will match the cost. Your answers to these questions are far from knowledgeable. Check out the cost of replacing the old copper piping with PVC at a physical plant as large as the high school. And, by the way, the piping is thinning at a rapid rate....that's what happens to copper piping over the years. That is a major project and not just an "upgrade."
Pvc pipes will last 75 to 100 years copper 50 to 60 years.pvc pipes have been used from around 1936 till now but became affordable in the 50s and 60s. One must ask why the schools did mot have pvc pipes installed to start with as its cheaper to buy less labor intense to instal and lastes 50 to 100 percent longer than copper. Hummm could it be lack of planning for the future lack of vision and lack of knoldge. Do we not have people in the school system who are educators who know these things . Do we lack people in the school system who understand understand wear and tear and that our populations grow the student population growth and we must plan ahead for it.No worries we will have a levy .
Not a upgrade i must disagree. I know a little about plumbing .There is no need to replace it all at one time . it can be done in sections just as a electrical system can be done. You make it sound as if the plumbing is about to have a major failure all at one time. I have owned several homes both to live in and to rent to others over the years .I never tore one down because of the plumbing or electrical system or roof.Again I was smart enough to look to the future and plan on upgrades and repairs every year i did a little something. But again i had only my money to spend and knew if i failed there was no emergency blanket to fall back on. If i had others money to depend on when i failed to plan for the future I would not of planned. Maybe citizens and private business are just better than federal and state and locals at planning . After all look at the federal debt which will soon top 20,000,000,000,000.00 .Several times our nations income. My private debt is only about 4 % of my income. So obviously I dont know what im talking about. Maybe you should ask why we spent so many thousands to have Farrell Kelly arrested and raids on people's houses at night for blogging. Fine examples kf money well spent by our local systems.
A new electrical system was installed just a few years ago, the planning was in place and has occurred, but the rapid rate of the amount of maintenance has turned into too much too fast. Machines break and structures deteriorate due to usage. Sometimes it happens all at once without any type of warning and when monthly maintenance schedules are in place. Mr. Kelley's unfortunate incarceration and the amount of money spent has no bearing on the money allotted to the education system. Two completely different pots of money. Again, lack of knowledge about how the system works is not helping your answers.
not nearly the kick backs on repairs like there is on building new schools..... if the pipes are thinning out it is the water is caustic .... wonder how it tests out the other day I was at the land fill and I thought man high school with wells right next to the dump whoes idea was that ....
yeah tested for what cause like most landfills god only knows whats in it and what leaches into the ground water just like no one knows about howes leather and how far it leaches into the water table ..... it seems like everybody in the upper end has cancer or dementia
mrs. Radcliff is the same lady who was pushing for Jacob meck to put 500,000gallons of human waste in open pits in greenbank a few years back because she worked for him and always knows whats best for the people of Pocahontas county ..... the only reason she now works for the school board is because she is in the eastern star and I am a little tired of the masons telling us what we need in the county...you know like the pipeline that nobody with any smarts wants...... as for the pipes at the high school they knew 35 years ago that the well water was caustic and nothing was done to prevent those pipes from being eaten up ......no maintenance does not = new schools in a depressed county with declining population and declining enrollment...a county where them minimum wage rules .....
