Ferrel was arrested three years ago and incarerated in the TVRJ for 30 months until the prosecution could mount a case against him. When they did, his first count was eliminated because a jury found him not guilty of burning 500 sq ft of land. (The size of a small, mobile home) Two other counts were severed and he was facing those charges. Now they are dismissed.
Ferrel can return to his home in Cloverlick if he so chooses. He has been on home confinement for four months but he really doesn't go home very often. (14 miles) He seems to prefer the Town of Marlinton.
Ferrel has joined the staff of the Pocahontas Commentator Plus as a roving reporter. He keeps us informed as to what is going on in Marlinton.
Ferrel keeps the immigrant laborers who live at Joe McCall's lodging supplied with eggs and other groceries. This is a part of his outreach effort on behalf of world brotherhood.
He occasionally finds milk, salads, and other perishable stuff that is only 3 months out of date to give to his friends.
Ferrel is an economic resource in himself. He has singlehandedly brought $43,800 to the Regional Jail Authority. Some Randolph county folks appreciate the jobs he provides for them with his incarceration.
Locally, Ferrel has kept three attorneys busy with his case for 3 years. That's money in their pocket paid by the county. One of those attorneys was a local lawyer. He keeps her in spending money.
