what is true is that norman stood up to a sheriff who does not have a clue as to what his job is .......jonese thought he got elected to grudge &%@k anyone he did not like for any reason ........ by norman standing up , lt.deputy totten is now serving time , sargent deputy k.f.c. cole is now in richwood as a disgraced reject felon from kentucky ,and everyone knows it .......as for simmons pulling wool over someones eyes ,if that old fart was really smart he would have stopped this personal attack on a private citizen who was not breaking any laws at all ,he would have dropped all charges for what they really are ( just picking on some one for no reason at all ) ..........by doing this he could have saved us tax payers a lot of money being spent on nonsense ,by an out of control sheriff who just needs to grow up ........ oh yeah i almost forgot to mention normans tying of a can to j.l.cliftons ass ........ so what norman paid out was a small price to pay for the shit storms he has created so far ........ p.a. simmons should start getting his legal advice from norman instead of from the likes of beer can bob .and runny muck !!! old timmers used to say that when you are dancing you have to pay for the music ,in this case it was cheap .........
I find it interesting there was a debate about what economic development was. I mean really a lawyer is not needed to decide that is it. Now we may know why the county's economy sucks and is becoming the welfare capitol of WV..
this sounds to me like, if you do not like the turd farm idea we got one that you are going to truly hate ! when the bottom feaders start circling that land with obscure plans it is time to make a final solution .........it sounds like a study was done and the findings point to the fact that the land can not be used for anything ........ for starters take the sign down and write it off as a very bad idea in the first place .......... it sounds like it is time to deed it over to the national forest service or auction the parcel off on the court house steps .......if it is bought by the private sector they will soon find out that the land can not be used ........if it is nothing more than a swamp with protected species and native american artifacts then take it off the table and let the land return to it`s natural state ......... if jamie really wants to develope something well take a look at those 99 acres at the county owned edrey industrial park or how about that 1.5 millions dollar empty industrial building that sits there year after year ........ if our commissioners want to something bring a company to the county that will fill that building with jobs and a tax base ........ how would our world change with a few hundred living wage manufactoring jobs
First of all, agriculture is not defined as "economic development". In fact, economic development is used to take away agriculture based business and move it to an industrial type business! Agriculture does not and will not sustain a community or this county, if it did, this county would be fine because it has plenty of agriculture. Second, let's ask ourselves the question that anybody with some common sense would ask: What do 2 yahoos from Ohio and John Fitzgerald have in common? The want for $$$$$$. Ohio has one of the biggest Native American artifact show & sales in the country and these people have found out that there are artifacts on this property in Green Bank. How do we find artifacts? We plow! John Fitzgerald is the mouthpiece for 2 out of towners who want to pretend to plant corn or beans or whatever, all the time plowing up that land, turning over as many artifacts as they can, taking them to Ohio and selling them. John made it clear they don't care about the wetlands or the grass that is federally protected. They don't care about the environment. They don't want "minerals" above or below ground. They don't want timber. So all they wanna do is plant some corn and hay and improve the economy in Pocahontas County. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!! The lease covers every imaginable scenario except the taking of artifacts from the property. Yes, there will be "economic development" here: John Fitzgerald will get his share of the money from the artifacts found and the whole situation will be as legal as legal can be. How about the county commission open their eyes for once and use some common sense!

Also, there is no way this 30 acre plot would do enough in the financial department to benefit Pocahontas County in any way, which, by the way, is the standard definition for most counties "economic development". Unless, of course, you will be growing a very expensive cash crop....medicinal marijuana perhaps?? Give me a break. I grew up on a crop farm of over 1,000 acres and I know how many people it takes to tend a farm that large. Keep yappin' 'cause yer gettin' real defensive about a little ole 30 acre plot of ground. Wonder why.

Also, there are many universities and government organizations that define growing crops as Agricultural Business. (Do some research) WVU has a major degree program devoted to Agri-Business. Do farmers do it for fun? No, they support their families and their employees with an agricultural business.
Since I have been spending most of my time for the past few years during the spring, summer and fall in Cass, why can't I start a business or make money? Oh, I'm looking for more that the Greenbank 30 acres. We chose the property to put it to good use and it is near our property in Cass. Since the Greenbank property wasn't being used, I thought we could develop it without any permanent changes. The county could have it back (probably in better shape that we get it) if they found a developer. We will look into whether or not the study of protected grasses is still valid and restricts the use of the property.
However, no good deed goes unpunished. Rather than subject myself (or anyone else) to your assumptions, I will just look for other property. So, Instead of developing and maintaining the property, I guess I will find other private lands for lease. Norm, do you have around 50 acres I can use? I understand there is 100 acres next to you. By the way, do I REALLY care what you think?

We have been screwed by local politicians , our own law and court system so often we have become immune to it. Norman has not said anything against you that I can see, some people have questioned your intentions, as it involves public owned property questions should be asked.
