Something Peculiar Going on With Local Police Transports

My Marlinton reporter indicates that the county and state police are now transporting prisoners to Tygart's Valley Regional Jail themselves instead of using a sheriff's aux to do the job.

What could have happened?

My reporter indicated that some had been working for the sheriff's office doing transports who was disabled and he turned their invoice in to social security.  The social security office took considerable interest in the matter and according to him that person is no longer doing transports.  Surely, the sheriff's office wasn't hiring a disabled person to escort prisoners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He also indicated that a woman was transported to TVRJ without a female escort.  Apparently, that practice is continuing but only with a deputy or a trooper.  Hopefully, Brad Totten hasn't been rehired!

Then my reporter got interested in whether these people were paying taxes on their contract work with the county.  We have had this question for a long time and it is one of the main reasons we like to post their invoices so that the public can know how much money they are making and if they wish they can report it to the IRS.  This could save the county a lot of money.

P.S.  Have you noticed anyone lately wearing a sheriff's aux T-Shirt??????????????????

Some young ladies in our county are going to retire early thanks to the Pocahontas County Sheriff's office.

You can get some big bucks if a male officer takes you to jail without a female escort and pulls a "Totten" on you.
