Ferrell's in Jail (AGAIN)

Ferrell's back in jail again.  This time he is charged with a false 911 report.  He has a hearing Friday.  He was required to post a $500 appearance bond.

Of course, Ferrell has not a penny to his name.
And he likely never will.

He lives in Marlinton, walks whereever he goes, lives on garbage from the dumpsters.  His clothing comes from the quarter store.

When arrested the county paid a deputy to take him to Elkins for incarceration.  The trip cost the deputy time and the county wear and tear on the vehicle.  The jail gets paid $48 per day to lodge Ferrell.  (The county once left Ferrell in jail without a trial for nearly three years.)  He was acquited in a subsequent trial after costing the county about $40,000.

Meanwhile a lawyer has to be appointed to represent him.  (Probably around $200 per hour)  (It's over one and a half hours to Tygart's Valley jail.)  He has to be transported back to the county for any hearings and a trial.

All of this money is gone--money that could have been used to provide things of value to the taxpayers.

Ferrell will get out of jail, he may be fined but not to worry never a penny will be paid.  They could take his driver's license (If he had one--he doesn't)  The alternative is to sentence him to jail for perhaps 90 days. (Another $4,500)  Or to return him to the streets of Marlinton.

What is the problem?  Ferrell isn't going anywhere.  He enjoys hearings and trials.  He's probably the best educated citizen without a law degree.  He knows his rights.

I forgot to tell you that Ferrell will ask for a jury.  They will all get paid to hear his case.  (More money down the drain.)

The legislature has finally decided to end this idiocy.
