Motion Denied

Brad Totten's bid for 20 years of home confinement was denied by Judge James Rowe today in Pocahontas County Circuit Court.  Brad was asking to be allowed to have his sentence reduced from 20 years to 10 years home confinement so that he could work his T-Shirt graphics business from his Hillsboro home.  Judge Rowe said no!

A surprise witness for the prosecution was Holly Sewell who detailed her objection to his motion due to the sexually deviate actions of the former deputy while on the Pocahontas County Sheriff's Police force.  She said that she planned to leave the county in the future.  She testified that Totten had texted her as much as 30 or 40 times a day.

Adding to Rowe's decision was the reading of a portion of a deposition given under oath by Totten related to a civil lawsuit.  In that deposition, Totten was asked if he thought it was appropriate for a deputy to have sex with a kid.  He PLED THE FIFTH!!!  This undoubtedly influence Rowe in his decision.

He remains in jeopardy of ten to 20 years in prison.

Ms. Sewell emphasized that Totten actions reflected negatively on all police officers and that she felt that the Pocahontas County Police Officers were corrupt.

Totten Set to Walk

Editor's Note:  Just got word on the street that Judge Rowe intends to reduce Totten's sentence tomorrow at the hearing.  Community Reports indicate Rowe has been a close personal friend of the Totten family for years.  That explains why he refused to recuse himself from the case in which he had worked closely with Totten for quite some time.  Our source is close to law enforcement!!!

As I read all of this " Several thoughts come to mind" I ask all the fellow Pocahontas Folks WTH are you doing " you are allowing this are you kidding me, I am sorry to even put this up 

I am appalled all of these items,

 That Mr. Tottan person is a predator are you going to allow him or anyone else to be your neighbor. He needs a mental place to be in as well as anyone else that allows this, Now on to your 'Sheriff as some have kept there mouth shut for years" he was a piece of shit in HS, OK he bullied many for years an got away with it as well as other members of his family, to think you re-elected him back in because of lawd knows why you did such a thing is beyond my thinking.

As a person who was bullied growing up in that " Small town" I have to say those of us who were bullied have made great names for our-self we never forgot where we came from as well never forgot those who are still in the area, Take back your darn town Now before it is to late" If it isn't already, 

You can have new jobs brought in to your town, that of new business to come to your town, but folks are afraid to come there now pick up a darn broom , put all that trash mess to the side an get rid of it, Plant some darn flowers, clean that town up, If not able to do , Maybe a bunch of us need to come back and make it happen there. 

As your little Tourist Person get off your arse and do things to make folks want to come to your town, That doesn't mean just for out of town, The local folks deserve some respect and have things done for them as well, Need idea" Well I will get them to you, as you make money so do it now before that town is lost, Dear. Mr Mayor, now I am so disappointed in your way of doing things and frankly surprised I know folks get tired and such we all do, But you use to give a shit now get back to why you ran for that office to begin with. Your no longer 2nd hand man your in charge now do it, Need idea's or ways to make things happen, I can share with you as well. 

Dear Parents do right by your children teach them well, respect and honor I know it is hard I sure do, when you see those so called half ass in charge want your town to be prosperous then get them out of office, Starting from the head down to that of all new blood, Cause there maybe a new " Sheriff in Town soon" so get ready folks. That Sheriff is you take back your town " Remember when all of you worked together to do things when a flood happened helped your neighbors, where everyone looked out for each other then do it again, Now it starts with you as a group. It takes one person to get the ball running, So do it, Need some help ? Well I think maybe it should be sooner than later.

your story actually brought me to tears.
so sorry for what you and your family had to endure at the hands of this animal and his requisite handlers.

yesterday i spoke with the u.s. attorneys office in the northern district.
they are responsible for investigating and prosecuting the crimes that are transpiring in pocahontas county with our corrupt public officials.
they are fully aware of the criminal events that are continuing on sheriff jonese's watch.
the hills have eyes......and this time its on the corrupt public officials that claim "to protect and serve"....and those that deny and betray their sworn duty to uphold justice.

william ihlenfeld's office encouraged me to communicate this to all of the citizens of pocahontas county.
please continue to speak up and speak out.
"business" is so good that they have established a public corruption hotline.

I read this petition and it made me sick to my stomach.

Let me tell you about a petition I filed about 17 years ago.my 14year old daughter was acting out,as teenagers will do at that age,so I went to the court house ,after a lot of soul searching,looking for help with her.I knew that she needed a firm hand to get her through and since everything I was doing hadn't worked,I thought a juvenile petition would make her listen. 

The judge talked to her and I believed that the scare would help.He gave her community service,and since we already volunteered at one of the county fire departments,I arranged to have her spend time cleaning there,she was put under the direct supervision of you guessed it Officer Brad Totten.he started a sexual relationship with her then,and it continued for years,of course I didn't find this out until all of this came out,how would you feel if it was your daughter?

I trusted him,at that point in time I trusted all police officers.

I often wonder how different things might have turned out if she had been supervised by a decent officer that actually cared about her,and didn't use her,

I'm sorry but a 14 year old cannot give consent, not to a 30 yr old. So the help I asked for was one great big joke,oh how he must have loved watching me drop my daughter off every Sat. 

For community service, how many other teenage girls did he do this to,that we didn't hear about?

 So when I read this petition, yes it makes me very nauseated to say the least,and so angry that I can't find the words to tell you! You see everyone doesn't really know about all the really deviant shit he has done,because he got to plea down From 60 plus counts to only one.and this is why,so he could buy the very best lawyer to file this petition. 

Do you really think that he will be suffering in his mansion on the hill?

No,he would be living in the lap of luxury, justice bought and paid for! 

This CANNOT be allowed to happen.  

It will send the message that what he did was okay.it will send the message to the girls he abused that they never mattered,and in his eyes they didn't! It will send the message to all the other officers that its okay to use their position to exploit young girls in trouble! 

They need to continue to investigate all his buddies(McMillion), and put them in there with him,then he wouldn't be so lonely, hell they could open a wing and put all the corrupt officers in there,and as far as the shower thing,he gets the opportunity to shower and shave EVERY Signal day! 

I'm sure that 60 counts over 20 yrs IS a sexual predictor! Think about the lives he ruined,can I get back the chance to help my 14 yr old,no I can't,that chance is long gone.the best thing that came out of all of this is the message it sent to the rest of them,abuse the power you have and you will be punished,don't send them a new message,one that says,its okay,you will only get a slap on the wrist,so go a head take advantage of these girls,no one cares.
