old time hymns is a good place to put this latest tid bit of information about the B.F.D. buying the former sheets G M C dealership in greenbank ...a Pocahontas county resident went to the latest board meeting and asked a very simple question ,"how much money is in the treasury of the bartow, frank and durbin volunteer fire company".... now this sounds like a very credible question in light of the fact that $190,000 has been spent on buying that building by the B .F.D..... CONSIDERING that every cent of that money came from the public and the tax payers through the Pocahontas county commissioners surprisingly the answer tendered by the fire chief of that fire company none other than Kenneth (buster)Varner was ,"that is none of your business" imagine that ...talk about nuts like a big brass monkey this monkey has to have the most historic set ever.....the individual didn`t ask from the floor what was the treasury of varner LLC he asked about a public entity with public funds ....a public volunteer fire company mind you .....if this is let to go what or why is there a board of directors at B F D and why didn't they resign right then and there or demand that he answer ...I understand that our other line of defense Eugene simmons the prosecuting attorney is want to answer any freedom of information requests in this case so no wonder it was not any of this citizens business to ask such a simple question .... the fix is in !! the more I think that this is a ruse B f d doesn`t want that building for a fire house but more likely it was so that the property can be leased to the contractor that is gearing up in greenbank for the pipe line project....it sure looks like greenbank is going to be the construction epicenter and that building is more valuable then it appears ....greed is the under lying force here ....I hear that the old dealership is not a fire safe building and it requires fire walls to be installed before it can be used as a fire house .... so one has to ask yourself didn`t chief varner think about this building being useless as a fire house before he rushed to buy the place before he got approval or in put from the board of directors of B F D ???? IT APPEARS that this board and Eugene simmons are nothing more then a bunch of toothless junk yard guard dogs ....so maybe the only thing we have is old timey hymns and prayers to look out for us ...I guess that a lot of people have received the annual request for a donation for B F D at $35.00 my question is until an answer is given as to the treasury should I give up $35.00 or should I donate to cass fire company instead as we are covered by both companies if you donate to one....
