The Pocahontas County School Board apparently has lets it finances go down so bad that they can't even afford helmets for our football kids. And yet they want us to vote an increase in our taxes so that they can build a new high school???
Tuesday agenda tells us that the CC is going to be asked to buy helmets for the football players.
Of course, that would be blatantly illegal if anything. The hotel/motel tax was intended for tourism, not local athletic events.
Well, if the board can't afford helmets how do they think that the rest of us can afford to increase our taxes?
Will jock straps be next?

let me guess Ratcliff is behind this too ? but of coarse the working class pays and the lazy get a free ride. get these people out and vote Norman in. take a stand against the rats.
ReplyDeleteI'm well off. I work hard for my money. Why the hell should i hand over what i worked for so the ones who will not work will benefit? I think not. Nope sorry my family should benefit. Now if you can show me only the working familes will benefit. Then i may rethink about giving money to the school but only then.
ReplyDeleteNo name - if you can't say who you are then you shouldn't even be acknowledged. You also need to learn to spell. Ratliff is Radcliff and she's my mother. I'm getting really tired of her getting the blame for everything. She is not the only one on the Board. If you did your research you would see that the superintendent and board make the decisions, not Mrs. Radcliff!! Think about how many sports there are now and how expensive the costs of all teams are and running them from place to place. Numbers in the county and state are declining so that makes all funds/taxes decline. It's not the boards fault that lazy people get a free ride, that's the states and when you want to talk about people and money, many well off to do people do not help out like they should or contribute their share. So it's not just about the lazy people. So how about you take a stand to help raise money for the very expensive helmets and all the other sports teams that need money.
ReplyDeleteif you don`t like the heat don`t put it out there ....your mothers salary comes from tax payers hard earned money and she is not on the board .....she should keep her opinions to herself because she has a vested interest in this school levy ballot proposal and is not really a private citizen in this matter as no one gets to vote for her .....why doesn`t she resign and run as a candidate for B.O.E. and put her view points on the stage of public comment ..... as for no name hiennemann put is name out their and he got locked up on a Friday night with no ride home from Upshur county .....when it comes to freedom of speech there isn`t a category for lazy people it is just people .....
